Everyone thinks the 'Jake Paul curse' is real and completely ruined Liverpool in 2022

Everyone thinks the 'Jake Paul curse' is real and completely ruined Liverpool in 2022

Paul started supporting Liverpool this year.

Football fans are convinced Jake Paul publicly declaring his support for Liverpool has 'cursed' them.

Jurgen Klopp's side were dismantled 4-1 by Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday evening to continue their miserable start to the season.

Liverpool have won just two games so far and sit seventh in the Premier League, already six points behind leaders Arsenal.

What's gone wrong then? Is it the departure of Sadio Mane? Is it the lack of investment in midfield? Or is it the 63 games they played last term catching up to them?

According to the internet, it's none of those things. Instead, they're blaming YouTuber turned boxing superstar Paul.

'The Problem Child' threw his support behind Liverpool earlier this year and regularly tweets himself watching games.

All this started back in April, when Paul donned a Liverpool jersey and gave a shoutout to Mohamed Salah before a Merseyside Derby against Everton.

Liverpool won that game 2-0 but that is one of few positives for the Reds in the last six months.

They did manage to win the FA Cup, but lost out on the Premier League title to Manchester City on a dramatic final day then suffered a 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Shortly after that clash in Paris, Mane expressed his desire to leave the club after six years. He sealed a move to Bayern Munich in the summer and Liverpool chose to replace him with Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguay international has struggled since arriving from Benfica, scoring one Premier League goal so far and being sent off for headbutting Crystal Palace defender Joachim Andersen last month.

Injuries have plagued Liverpool over the last month and it's left them bare in midfield, which saw them move for Arthur Melo on deadline day.

Arthur joined from Juventus on a season-long loan, despite midfield not being a priority at the start of the transfer window.

All these issues have been traced back to Paul's innocent tweet five months ago and everyone is convinced he had a role in all of it.

One person commented: "Liverpool have been terrible ever since Jake Paul started supporting them."

Another said: "Call me crazy but ever since Jake Paul started to 'support' Liverpool things have gone downhill That to me is suspicious."

A third tweeted: "He needs to stop tweeting about us."

While someone put: "I knew we were finished as soon as Jake Paul got involved."
