Liverpool target to be offered 'club-record deal' as contract talks revealed

Liverpool target Jude Bellingham is to be offered a club-record deal to stay at Borussia Dortmund, according to a fresh report.

The 19-year-old is one of the most sought-after midfielders in world football.

On the continent, the England star has attracted the interest of La Liga giants Real Madrid and Ligue 1 table topper Paris Saint-Germain.

Meanwhile, in the Premier League Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are all said to be battling it out for Bellingham's signature

Jurgen Klopp’s side, who are languishing ninth in the Premier League table, some 21 points adrift of leaders Arsenal, have allegedly identified Bellingham as their No.1 summer transfer target.

The club are in dire need of midfield recruits, with their starting contingent ageing and out of form, and fringe players, such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita, set to depart in the summer.

However, it appears Dortmund are doing their utmost to keep the Birmingham-born midfielder.

Dortmund to offer Bellingham record deal

According to German publication Bild, Dortmund are preparing a last-ditch offer worth a whopping £13.25million-a-year to keep Bellingham at the club.

Such a deal would see the teenager become the highest-paid player in the club’s history.

Talks are allegedly planned between Dortmund and Bellingham’s adviser Mark Bennett - a friend of the player’s family - for March at the latest.

Indeed, Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke and sporting director Sebastian Kehl are reportedly "fighting" to convince the 22-time England international to stay in Germany for one more year.

Bellingham's current deal expires in the summer of 2025, but the club want to see the player extend his contract a further year.

The new terms would see Bellingham eclipse club captain Marco Reus’ salary, despite the German international having made 368 appearances in all competitions for the Black and Yellows.

However, if the England man does leave the German club he is likely to earn an even bigger salary.
