Liverpool star linked with shock PSG move after previous 'meeting' with club chief

Mohamed Salah has been linked with a shock move.

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been linked with a shock move to Paris Saint-Germain, according to fresh reports.

Salah has been a key player at Liverpool since arriving on Merseyside in 2017. The forward is in line to make his 200th league appearance for the Reds when Jurgen Klopp’s side take on Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Should the Egyptian find the net, he would match Liverpool legend Gordon Hodgson’s record of 126 goals, the most scored by any player in Reds history during that number of games.

This term Salah has scored 17 goals and claimed a further seven assists in all competitions, yet his performances have not quite been as relentless as in previous years.

While last season he was scoring every 120 minutes, the time around it’s once every 240. Of course, Sadio Mane’s departure has contributed to the 30-year-old’s slump as has the frequent absence of Roberto Firmino.

Yet, amid a decline in performances the Liverpool attacker has been linked with a move away.

Salah to PSG?

Goal’s Neil Jones claimed PSG are among the teams interested in Salah.

While the Egypt international’s form has been patchy this term, Jones insisted it would still be a “huge surprise” if the Reds looked to cash in on the player, given Salah signed a new three years contract last summer.

Yet this week Italian publication Calciomercato claimed Liverpool are open to selling Salah for around €80million (£71million).

Meanwhile, last month reports claimed that the player had lunch with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

As reported in the Mirror, the Egyptian is said to have dined with the PSG chief at the Ritz restaurant in central London.

It is unclear when the alleged lunch took place, though it is said to have taken place after Liverpool’s 3-1 loss to Brentford in the capital.

The publication stressed however that there is no suggestion the pair met over a potential transfer.
