Robbie Fowler claims Liverpool star Mo Salah deserves as much praise as Cristiano Ronaldo for one thing

Robbie Fowler claims Liverpool star Mo Salah deserves as much praise as Cristiano Ronaldo for one thing

He has drawn comparisons between the pair.

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has compared Mohamed Salah's fitness to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Salah broke Fowler's record of 128 Premier League goals for Liverpool and now leads the way for the Reds.

The Egyptian scored twice and bagged two assists as Liverpool ran riot at Anfield on Sunday, thrashing Manchester United 7-0.

The win leaves Jurgen Klopp's men in fifth place in the Premier League, three points adrift of the Champions League places.

Whilst it hasn't been Salah's finest season in a Liverpool shirt, he has still managed a respectable 22 goals and 11 assists in all competitions this season.

He has also been one of the few mainstays from last season's attack, with the likes of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Roberto Firmino having spent the majority of the campaign on the medical bench.

"His body is a temple"

Fowler singled out Salah's commitment to his profession as one of his defining strengths, drawing comparisons to five-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo.

“To go through your career without a serious injury of course you need a bit of luck,” Fowler told The Athletic. “But his appearance record also says a lot about how Mo looks after himself. Cristiano Ronaldo gets a lot of plaudits on that front and Mo deserves the same.

“His body is a temple. He’s completely devoted to his profession. He’s the perfect example for the young players coming through in terms of how to lead your life. I’m sure he’s played a lot with aches and pains, but he just hates missing games.”

Fowler added that Salah had plenty more in the tank, believing there are "more chapters to be written".

“He’s only 30 and he should still have many years left at the top level. It’s exciting to think about what he could still achieve. There are more chapters to be written,” Fowler concluded.
