Official: Liverpool Star Forward To Leave Anfield

Divock Origi will depart Liverpool when his contract expires, and has been linked with a move to AC Milan.

It has been officially confirmed that Divock Origi will be leaving Anfield when his contract with the club expires this month.

The 27 year old Belgian striker has won a Premier League title, a Champions League and, more recently, an FA Cup since joining Liverpool from French side Lille in 2014.

Despite being a consistently strong performer, Origi has struggled to find a regular place in the Liverpool starting Xl, unsurprisingly he was rarely selected ahead of the imperious front three of Salah, Mané and Firmino. The addition of Diogo Jota and Luis Díaz to the Liverpool attack has made game time even more scarce for the Belgian.

As Origi exits Anfield there is one abiding memory of his time at the club that will resonate with football fans around the world. That is, of course, when Trent Alexander Arnold took that corner quickly and Origi’s awareness meant he was able to get on the end of the cross and send Liverpool to the 2019 Champions League final.

Origi is heavily linked with a move to AC Milan and, according to the Mirror, has ‘agreed’ personal terms with the Italian giants. Milan recently won their 26th Serie A, a victory in which former Premier League players Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori played a significant role.

At the age of 35 Giroud is approaching the end of his career and, whilst the striker is evidently still capable of producing strong performances, it’s likely that AC Milan will be looking to Origi as a potential replacement for the former Arsenal and Chelsea player.

In addition to Origi, AC Milan have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Lille midfielder Renato Sanchez. Milan are also looking to sign Dutch centre-back Sven Botman, also of Lille, and have expressed interest in signing French striker Christopher Nkunku, who is thriving at RB Leipzig.
