"Is training" - Jurgen Klopp reveals major Liverpool injury boost ahead of Ajax game

Liverpool's Fabio Carvalho is back in training

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Fabio Carvalho is back in training.

The Reds boss's comments suggest that the Portugal Under-21 international could return soon after coming off at half-time against Everton, as Liverpool drew 0-0 at Goodison Park in the Merseyside Derby.

“Andy Robertson is out until at least the international break,” Klopp told the Echo

“Curtis Jones is not available but Fabio Carvalho is training.”

It is a ray of positive news for Liverpool, who have been constantly thwarted by injuries so far this season, especially in the midfield area.

Thiago Alcantara made a return from absence against Napoli in Liverpool’s 4-1 defeat, but they’re still without Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson and, as Klopp mentioned, Curtis Jones.

Carvalho will hope to feature soon after making six appearances already this term, and he attracted some high-level praise after his cameo performance against Manchester United.

Liverpool lost 2-1 at Old Trafford, but Jurgen Klopp's side's best period of the match coincided with Carvalho’s presence on the field, and he played a part in Mohamed Salah’s consolation header.

The youngster definitely caught the attention of Manchester United’s legendary midfielder, Paul Scholes.

He told Optus Sport: “I thought Carvalho did well when he came on. He carried the ball, running forward. That’s what I mean about creativity in the middle of the pitch."

"Milner and Henderson – they’re too similar. When Carvalho came on he actually started running at the defence and trying to create a little bit more.”

Carvalho scored ten goals and provided eight assists in the Championship for Fulham last season, and is on track to have a similar impact at Anfield with a packed schedule this term.
