FSG make massive Liverpool statement after receiving 'no firm bids' for Reds

FSG make massive Liverpool statement after receiving 'no firm bids' for Reds

Liverpool owners FSG are still committed to spending.

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have made a massive statement by committing themselves to a summer transfer overhaul despite seeking new investment into the club.

Jurgen Klopp's side have struggled massively this season and are currently 10th place with slim hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Many have pointed to a lack of investment on the pitch coupled with the sale of arguably their best player Sadio Mane as two big reasons why they are underperforming.

It's clear that the Reds need to improve their squad especially in the midfield area, and according to a recent report in The Times that is set to happen this summer.

It states that Liverpool are set for a 'massive transfer overhaul' which would represent a "statement of commitment from FSG" given they put the club up for sale back in November.

The news could mean that the American owners are expecting to remain in charge as they may only attract offers for a minority stake in the Merseyside giants.

'No firm bids' for the club

Although they announced their intention to sell first, Liverpool haven't received as much interest from potential investors as their rivals Manchester United.

This may explain FSG's reasoning behind wanting to invest further on the pitch this summer.

According to The Athletic, the Reds have received 'no firm bids' and three months into the process there still isn't much interest.

The report said: "If we were to compare Fenway Sports Group’s (FSG) attempt to sell Liverpool to the sale of a house, it might be time to try a different estate agent. Because three months in and… no firm bids, not much buzz."

Whether FSG remains in control of Liverpool or not, what's vital is that the club keep hold of manager Klopp.

Recent reports suggested he could walk away given their poor campaign but the German manager has insisted he is the man to turn things around.

A potential new arrival that could help bridge the gap is teenage sensation Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool are interested in bringing the England international to Anfield following his breakout performance at the World Cup in Qatar.

However, they will face competition for his signature from Real Madrid and Manchester City who could also be more likely to offer Champions League football.

The next few months are huge for the Reds and will go a long way in defining their long-term future.
