Fabrizio Romano Reveals Which Midfielder Liverpool Will Go After Next Summer

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool want to sign Jude Bellingham next summer

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool will do all they can to sign Jude Bellingham next summer, but the 18-year-old is set to stay in Germany for now.

Romano’s report with Wettfreunde arrives after Liverpool missed out on their primary midfield transfer target this summer, Aurelien Tchouameni, who has joined Real Madrid.

As such, Bellingham is viewed as a natural alternative. The 18-year-old would add some much-needed youth to Jürgen Klopp’s engine room.

Liverpool won’t be alone in their pursuit of the youngster. Fabrizio Romano believes “all top clubs, not only from England” will be keeping tabs on Bellingham.

As such, the Reds will need to act swiftly next summer if they are to get their man. They won’t want a repeat of the Tchouameni situation.

As for this transfer window, it would appear Liverpool are content with what they’ve already got in midfield.

Contract talks have been opened with Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is set to stay at the club amid links to a number of potential suitors.

The only midfielder who is set to be allowed to leave is Takumi Minamino. His £15.5 million switch to Monaco is set to be confirmed in the coming days.

However, many Liverpool fans are questioning whether Jürgen Klopp is being too lax in his approach towards recruiting a new man in the middle of the park.

There is a sector of the fanbase, and quite a substantial one at that, who believe Liverpool need a new signing in that position now.

The likes of Thiago Alcantara, Jordan Henderson, and James Milner are well within the twilight years of their respective careers now, and will become all the more unreliable as time passes.

The only two youthful options Liverpool have in that area are Harvey Elliot, who has struggled for form since his return from his broken ankle injury last season, and Fabio Carvalho, who is more of a forward at this stage in his development.

Liverpool fans will be happy to see links to Jude Bellingham popping up in the media.

He will doubtlessly become one of the world’s best midfielders, and if they have to wait one more year to sign him, so be it.

However, if the opportunity is there to throw the bag at Dortmund this summer and capture his signature a year in advance, Liverpool should absolutely go for it.
