'Guarantee It' - Pundit Claims Liverpool Will Make Another Signing This Summer

'Guarantee It' - Pundit Claims Liverpool Will Make Another Signing This Summer

Pundit claims Liverpool will make another signing this summer

Former Scotland and West Ham striker Frank McAvennie has claimed Liverpool will make one more signing this summer amid reports suggesting their incoming business is complete.

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie stated he “can guarantee” that Liverpool will “bring somebody else in” before the transfer window’s conclusion.

He believes the injury of Diogo Jota will be something of a wakeup call to the Anfield club.

Jota has been struggling with a hamstring problem throughout summer.

His recovery hasn’t gone to plan, and he consequently missed Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace yesterday.

Also of note have been Darwin Nuñez’s performance in Liverpool’s first two pre-season friendlies.

The Uruguay international arrives at Anfield with lofty expectations resting upon his shoulders, but his first two Liverpool appearances haven’t been the most inspiring.

Of course, it’s pre-season, so the performances of all players should be taken with a pinch of salt due to differing levels of fitness.

Liverpool fans and fans of rival clubs alike should really be judging Darwin Nuñez once the Premier League season officially begins in three weeks.

As for who Liverpool sign before the window ends, one suspects it’ll either be a winger or a midfielder.

In attack, Liverpool have a plethora of options, but don’t want to be too dependent on Mo Salah.

Signing another established Premier League goal scorer would be a wise move from the Reds, especially if Jota is going to be unavailable for an extended period.

It has all gone a bit quiet on the Jarrod Bowen front, but Liverpool could revive their interest in the Englishman if they feel the need to add another forward to their ranks.

Liverpool fans were also hoping a new midfielder would be arriving at Anfield this summer. Aurelien Tchouameni was a primary target before Real Madrid swooped in.

Liverpool’s alternative signing to Tchouameni is Jude Bellingham, and Liverpool is the Englishman’s most likely next destination, but he’s not available for transfer until next summer.

Something of a stop-gap midfield signing, perhaps in the form of Sporting’s Matheus Nunes, is the most likely way Liverpool will conduct their remaining incoming business if anyone else is to join the Reds’ squad.
