Jose Enrique Warns Against Liverpool Signing Star Player

Jose Enrique Warns Against Liverpool Signing Star Player

Liverpool are interested in signing Real Madrid's Marco Asensio, but his wage demands may be an issue

Jose Enrique has warned Liverpool about the pitfalls of signing Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio

Speaking on Twitter, Enrique has suggested that, despite believing he is a good player, Asensio would be a ‘difficult signing’ for the Reds due to his high wages and need for first team football.

The Spanish international is said to be on a wage of around £117,000 a week, a high figure not fitting particularly well into Liverpools’ wage structure.

The three-time La Liga and Champions League winner featured 42 times for the Galacticos last season, but struggled to earn himself a run of starts due to injury problems.

No club is particularly interested in signing injury prone players, but due to the nature of Liverpools’ high intensity, attacking approach, they will be keeping a close eye on Asensio's issues

It is undoubtable that his talent is still there, but he will have to keep fit if he is to have any chance of moving to Anfield next season.

Real Madrid have already signed former Liverpool target Aurelin Tchouameni in a deal rumoured to be around £100 million, and they could be looking to recoup some of the transfer fee in sales.

With Asensio currently not a starter at the Bernabeu, he could potentially be a player they are looking to offload this summer.

The Reds have recently been linked with a £34 million deal for Asensio, and with the Spanish international having been on their radar for quite some time, it would come as no surprise to see Klopp's club make a move for the talented Spaniard in upcoming transfer windows.

However, Liverpool already have a fierce array of attacking talent, and with the recent purchase of Darwin Nunez for £85 million, it is unlikely the Merseyside club would be willing to spend another £34 million on an attacker this summer, unless there were to be a surprise departure.
