England star 'makes huge contract demands' amid Liverpool interest, he could quadruple his wages

England star 'makes huge contract demands' amid Liverpool interest, he could quadruple his wages

England and Chelsea star Mason Mount is reportedly likely to want a big pay rise to extend his deal at the Blues, amid Liverpool interest.

Chelsea and England star Mason Mount is reportedly likely to ask for a big pay rise to sign a new deal at Stamford Bridge, amid interest from Liverpool.

Mount is currently at the World Cup in Qatar with the Three Lions. He started their 6-2 win over Iran, where he put in an impressive display.

At domestic level, the 23-year-old is one of Chelsea's most important players, having featured in a key role under numerous Blues managers especially because of his work rate, goalscoring from midfield and movement off the ball.

It would, therefore, be a major surprise to see Mount leave the London club at this stage in his career.

However, reports last week claimed that Liverpool were keeping tabs on the midfielder, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer of 2024. He is yet to agree terms on a new deal at the club.

The Guardian say that the Blues will re-open talks with the player after the World Cup, although initial offers are said to have fallen short of what Mount hoped for.

The same source also claims that Mount will ask for a similar salary to the amount handed to Reece James as part of the new six-year deal the right-back signed earlier this year, believed to be worth £150,000 per week.

However, there are conflicting reports about the amount of money that the 23-year-old midfielder would ask for.

The Telegraph report that the club would 'likely have to pay' the player around £300,000 per week, with the claim presented that Blues targets Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice would ask for a similar amount in order to move to Stamford Bridge. That would quadruple Mount's current wage, believed to be £75,000 per week.

For Liverpool, they reportedly gave Mohamed Salah a new contract worth £400,000 per week, as per Football Insider, in the summer, although it is unclear whether they would be able to offer similar wages to any new additions in the upcoming transfer windows.

But Chelsea are confident of keeping Mount at the club, and it would likely be exceptionally difficult for another club to prize him away from Stamford Bridge - especially in the short-term.
