Liverpool transfer target drops huge hint he wants to move to Anfield

Could he be heading to Anfield?

Liverpool have been heavily linked with Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo this January, and as speculation increases, the player has now hinted at a move to Anfield on social media.

The Reds are in the market for midfield recruits following a series of poor performances, which has left them seven points off the Champions League places.

And Jurgen Klopp's midfield has taken the brunt of the criticism, with the likes of Fabinho struggling to regain the form of last season. As a result, the Liverpool boss is seeking alternative options, with the likes of Caicedo, Jude Bellingham and Teun Koopmeirs all rumoured with a move to Merseyside.

And now Caicedo appears to have responded to the interest on social media, potentially confirming his desire to join the club.

Caicedo likes tweet about joining Liverpool

Caicedo took to Twitter on Tuesday evening, and liked a tweet which read: "Liverpool awaits you champion."

The news has got supporters excited, believing a transfer to be imminent. However, the Reds are still yet to submit a bid for the 21-year-old.

Others believe Caicedo could have interpreted the tweet differently. The Seagulls host Liverpool in their next game, in what looks to be a real crunch match, with just one point separating the two sides.

Therefore, the midfielder may have thought the tweet referred to their upcoming game, as opposed to a move to The Reds.

In any case, Caicedo has developed interest from several Premier League Clubs, including Newcastle and Chelsea. Both of which have links to the player through former Brighton manager Graham Potter and Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth, who was instrumental in his move to England whilst working at the South Coast club.

Speculation surrounding Caicedo's social media antics comes days after it was reported that Brighton slashed their asking price by £20million.

Brighton have now informed clubs that they will need to pay £65million if they are to land the Ecuador international. The Seagulls initially wanted £85m for the World Cup star, but have since decreased the amount to over £60m plus add-ons, a discount which could leave Klopp and co licking their lips.
