Liverpool And Arsenal Set To Miss Out On Major Transfer Target To Chelsea

Liverpool and Arsenal transfer target Raphinha is set to move to Chelsea in the coming days.

Liverpool and Arsenal transfer target Raphinha is set to move to Chelsea in the coming days.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool were ‘monitoring’ the Leeds United star's situation if Mo Salah were to depart.

Recent reports suggest the Reds could be prepared to sell Salah this summer if he isn’t willing to reduce his excessive wage demands.

But with a decision yet to be made on that front, Chelsea have swooped in ahead of Liverpool.

If the Egyptian is to depart this transfer window, Liverpool do have other options. The Reds are reportedly tracking Jarrod Bowen and Ousmane Dembele.

Bowen is a player who is remarkably similar to Salah stylistically.

He is a fellow left-footed right-sided forward who scores a lot of goals, and he plays a very similar role at West Ham to the one Salah does at Liverpool.

Dembele on the other hand is more of a creative force but far less prolific in front of goal.

However, Jürgen Klopp has long been a fan of the player, and could be willing to make adjustments to the system should Liverpool decide to pursue a deal for the Frenchman.

Raphinha is another player who would’ve suited Liverpool well.

He's a relentless presser who’d add an element of unpredictability to Liverpool’s frontline.

Arsenal fans have also been left very disappointed by the latest developments concerning Raphinha and Chelsea.

In recent weeks, the Gunners emerged as favourites to capture the 25-year-old’s signature.

However, Chelsea are prepared to meet Leeds United’s valuation of the player in a way in which the Gunners are not, meaning a switch to West London appears all but complete for Raphinha.

Who Arsenal will look at as alternatives is not yet clear.

Liverpool though will keep trying to tempt Mo Salah to stay.

They will not be breaking their wage structure to keep him at the club, but will be hoping a compromise can be found with the Egyptian.
