Jadon Sancho could've become a Liverpool player if he had lowered his wage demands.

​Jadon Sancho had two 'major admirers' at Liverpool and Fenway Sports Group​ were prepared to pay Borussia Dortmund £73 million, but the deal wasn't pursued due to the player's staggering wage demands. ​

Jurgen Klopp and his assistant Pep Lijnders​ wanted Sancho at Anfield and funds were made available to snap up the talented forward.

However, any potential move collapsed when his wage demands came to light, paving the way for him to sign for Manchester United. 

Sancho is thought to be the club's second-highest earner after sealing a switch to Old Trafford. 

He's believed to be raking in a massive £350,000-a-week at Man United as Liverpool weren't prepared to shatter their wage structure to bring him to Merseyside.

That's according to David Lynch who claims had the 22-year-old been willing to accept a lower wage, then he would have become a Liverpool player.

"Instead, the Reds went on to land Diaz and then Nunez, the latter having turned down improved terms at United in order to play Champions League football," writes Lynch for The National News.

Sancho initially struggled at Man United and failed to break into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, but he rediscovered his form under Ralf Rangnick. 

He went onto make 38 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals. ​

Klopp brought in Luis Diaz during the January transfer window and splashed the cash to acquire Darwin Nunez from Benfica this summer.

Sadio Mane, though, has gone the other way as he's on the verge of completing his move to Bayern Munich. 

As for Mohamed Salah, he remains embroiled in a contract stand-off at Liverpool.
