Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal ruthlessly hit back at a reporter who called his side ‘boring’ to watch at the World Cup in Qatar.
The Netherlands defeated Senegal 2-0 in their World Cup opener before playing out a 1-1 draw with Ecuador at the Khalifa International Stadium last week.
And the Oranje swept aside World Cup hosts Qatar in convincing fashion with a 2-0 win at the Al-Bayt Stadium on Tuesday.
In-form PSV winger Cody Gakpo, who has been heavily linked with Manchester United, has been praised for his World Cup performances in a Netherlands shirt.
Van Gaal pulled no punches with one reporter over the style of play from the Netherlands and told him to head home if he thinks they are playing boring football.
Responding to the reporter, the Dutchman said: “I think you have a different perspective to me, why don’t you write down it’s terribly boring?
“If you think it’s boring, why don’t you go home?

“Well, that’s disappointing I think but I don’t agree with you, I think everyone would be rather proud we’re progressing to the next round and I think people know why you’re asking these questions.
“I don’t think things are as bad as you say.”
Van Gaal, who is in his third spell in charge of the Netherlands, previously led his country to a third-place finish in the World Cup in 2014.
The Netherlands boss left the Dutch national team after the World Cup in Brazil and went on to manage Manchester United for two seasons.
Van Gaal lifted the FA Cup trophy with United in his second season before he was sacked, with the 71-year-old Dutch manager initially retiring in 2019.
Frank de Boer left the Netherlands after the Oranje crashed out of Euro 2020 and opened the door for Van Gaal’s return in 2021.
The Netherlands will face the USA in the round of 16 on Saturday at the Khalifa International Stadium.
Should Van Gaal’s men defeat the United States in the last 16, then the Netherlands would provisionally face Poland or Australia in the quarter-finals on 9th December.
