Liverpool could instantly 'make' £22.5m the moment Alexis Mac Allister joins from Brighton

Liverpool are on the verge of completing a deal for Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister and it is already looking like a fantastic piece of business from the Merseyside club.

Mac Allister, 24, has reportedly agreed terms on a five-year deal with Liverpool, which will see him earn around £150,000 at Anfield.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says the Argentina international will undergo a medical with Liverpool on Tuesday.

"The plan is advance on formal contracts stuff today, complete medical then sign contract on Wednesday," tweeted Romano.

"Deal until June 2028. Alexis wants move completed before travelling to join Argentina NT."

Once the medical is completed, Liverpool are expected to trigger a release clause in Mac Allister's contract at the Amex Stadium.

How much will Liverpool pay for Mac Allister?

While there have been differing reports over how much Liverpool will pay for the Argentine, it has been claimed by multiple outlets that they could spend as little as £45m on the World Cup winner.

Romano, meanwhile, has confirmed Liverpool will pay 'way less' than a £60m fee, which has been reported elsewhere.

Should the Reds sign Mac Allister for around £45m, they are set to immediately 'make' money on the player.

According to CIES Football Observatory, Mac Allister's true transfer value is around €78.4m (£67.5m).

If their estimate is accurate, it would mean Liverpool have made a £22.5m saving on the midfielder.

Who else could Liverpool sign?

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to sign several new midfielders after a disappointing season, which ended without silverware or a top-four finish in the Premier League.

The Merseyside club have been linked with a number of other midfield targets, including Nice's Khephren Thuram and Borussia Monchengladbach's Manu Kone.

Liverpool may also look to sign a left-sided centre-back this summer, with Eintracht Frankfurt's Evan Ndicka, Wolfsburg’s Micky van de Ven and Levi Colwill - who spent the season on loan at Brighton from Chelsea - just some of the names linked with the Reds.
