Former Manchester City star David Silva fined after admitting to assaulting a woman

The incident happened at a Canary Islands carnival.

Manchester City legend David Silva has been fined after admitting to hitting a woman in a brawl at a Canary Islands carnival. 

Silva, who now plays for Spanish La Liga outfit Real Sociedad has been ordered to pay a fine of €1,080 for grabbing a young woman during the brawl that happened at the Maspalomas Carnival in Gran Canaria back in June. 

The Spaniard’s brother, Fernando Antonio Jimenez Silva and an unnamed third individual were also involved. 

According to Spanish news outlet Tiempo de Canarias who had access to court documents, Silva ‘toughly grabbed her arm to move her away, causing her to fall to the ground’ with the ‘intention of undermining the physical integrity’ of the victim. 

It has been reported that the woman suffered post traumatic cervical pain, a bruise on her left elbow and bruises and grazes to her knees and a finger on her left hand as a result of Silva’s action.

The victim required medical assistance ‘without requiring subsequent medical treatment.’

According to the report, the third unnamed person involved hit a young man with a stone and threatened another person with a knife. It was reported that he shouted ‘come here and I’ll cut you.’

As all defendants admitted their part, a trial for the case was not required. 

Silva was sentenced to the fine of €1,080 ‘at a rate of €12 per day during three months’. 

The report stated that the judge said the 'perpetrator responsible for a minor crime of injuries, with subsidiary personal liability in case of non-payment of one day of deprivation of liberty for every two daily instalments not paid’.

The former City man was also ordered to pay the young woman a compensation fee of €520 for injuries suffered and material damage. 

The unnamed individual was sentenced to eight moths in prison for throwing a rock and a fine for the second threat.

During what was a glittering career at the Etihad stadium, Silva made a total of 436 appearances, scoring 77 goals. As a City player, the Spaniard got his hands on four Premier League titles, five League Cups, two FA Cups and three FA Community Shields.

Throughout his time in English football, Silva was regarded as one of the best midfielders to ever grace the Premier League.
