Pep Guardiola confiscated 60 bottles of champagne after Man City destroyed Real Madrid

Pep Guardiola confiscated 60 bottles of champagne after Man City destroyed Real Madrid

Man City were in jubilant mood after beating Real Madrid but Pep Guardiola kept things in check.

Pep Guardiola reportedly confiscated 60 bottles of champagne that had been delivered to Manchester City's players after their midweek win against Real Madrid.

City booked their place in the Champions League final with a stunning 4-0 demolition of Real Madrid on Wednesday.

After a tense 1-1 draw in the first leg of the semi-final, City tore their Spanish opponents to shreds at the Etihad Stadium to secure a 5-1 aggregate victory.

Guardiola's side will appear in the final for the second time in the club's history, and are now just three wins away from securing the treble.

Reaching the final - and doing so with such a remarkable performance - gave everyone associated with City good cause to celebrate.

However, if City's players had hoped to pop the champagne corks after the match, then Pep had other ideas.

According to the Daily Mail, “security staff removed 60 bottles of champagne that had been ordered for the home dressing room” following Wednesday’s match.

Guardiola is understood to have banned celebrations until they have won their first trophy in their Treble pursuit.

Officials at the club were allegedly "told that the champagne had been dispatched in error by hospitality staff” and it was “intended to be placed in the dressing room on Sunday" when City could potentially clinch a fifth Premier League title in six years with a win against Chelsea.

He may come across as a bit of a party pooper, but Guardiola is ready to celebrate when the time is right.

The Spaniard is believed to have promised to take his players and their families "out for a celebratory meal and drinks at the end of the season" regardless of if they win any silverware or not.

City will wrap up the title with a win against Chelsea on Sunday, but they can start their planning early if Nottingham Forest beat Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

The next target will be winning the FA Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley on June 3, before attentions turn to the Champions League final against Internazionale Milan in Istanbul a week later.

City's players celebrated last season's Premier League title victory wildly, so we can only imagine what they'll get up to if their win the treble.
