‘Cristiano Ronaldo Would Join Liverpool If He Could, He Has No Loyalty To Manchester United’

‘Cristiano Ronaldo Would Join Liverpool If He Could, He Has No Loyalty To Manchester United’

The Portuguese star asked to leave Old Trafford last month, future still up in the air.

Cristiano Ronaldo is in the firing line once again as his Manchester United future continues to make headlines.

According to former England and Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor, Ronaldo has no loyalty to United or any of his former clubs and would join Liverpool if he could.

He told talkSPORT: “Cristiano Ronaldo would join Liverpool this summer, if he could. They are big rivals of Man United but it’s about Ronaldo.

“He will go anywhere he can still play Champions League football, add to his record and win titles.

“I don’t think Ronaldo has any loyalty to United, Real Madrid or Juventus.”

The 37-year-old missed United’s pre season tour of Thailand and Australia due to family reasons but this week returned to the UK and was pictured driving into the club’s Carrington training ground to kick start his pre season.

He arrived to training alongside his agent Jorge Mendes, with the pair apparently holding talks with manager Erik ten Hag

Following the conversation, Ronaldo reiterated that he sees his future away from Old Trafford, and demanded his contract at United be ripped up to allow him to leave as a free agent.

Ronaldo’s transfer request came after United endured a dismal 21/22 campaign which saw them finish sixth in the Premier League

As a result of their league position, they will be playing in the Europa League instead of the Champions League, which has irked Ronaldo

The Portuguese international wants to be challenging for the top honours and break more records, something he feels he is unable to achieve if he is to stay with United.

Despite Ronaldo’s plea, United’s stance remains unchanged. The club are adamant that the five time Ballon d’Or winner is not for sale. Ten Hag said during an interview that Ronaldo is in his plans for the new season.

The Dutchman told BBC Sport: “Clear, he is not for sale. We are planning with him. And I am looking forward to working with him.

“I cannot say anymore because the situation is still the same as last week.”

A whole range of clubs have been linked with a move for Ronaldo, including Spanish La Liga side Atletico Madrid. However, the club’s fans are far from wanting the Portuguese at their club after revealing a banner that read: “CR7 not welcome” during a pre season match.

Atletico club president has also ruled out a move for the player: “I've already said this several times, I don't know who invented the Cristiano story but I'll tell you that it's practically impossible that he comes to Atletico de Madrid.

“Rumours are rumours and they have to stay as rumours. If you keep on fuelling the rumours then eventually it will look like it's something real, which it's not.”

Where will Ronaldo be playing in the new season? Only time will tell.
