England boss Gareth Southgate has reacted to Marcus Rashford’s trip to New York, after he pulled out of the Three Lions squad with injury.
Ahead of England’s Euro 2024 qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine, Rashford was selected and many felt he would have played a huge part due to his form this season.
The 25-year-old has scored 27 goals across all competitions for Manchester United so far and has been one of the best players in Europe.

However, Rashford was ruled out of the games due to a knee injury.
Southgate said about Rashford’s absence: “In terms of a loss, when you haven’t had him that often then it’s different to being a loss. But without a doubt, he was in good form. We were looking forward to seeing him.”
After leaving the England camp, the United star was seen holidaying in New York.

Many thought the England boss would not be pleased with Rashford’s trip after sustaining an injury.
However, Southgate seems to have no issue regarding the forward’s holiday to the US.
According to the Daily Mirror, he said: “Once Marcus is ruled out of the squad, it’s entirely up to him how he spends his time.
“The players don’t get a lot of breaks and I’m sure some of them will be flying off after tomorrow’s game if they get 48 hours off with the schedule as it is.

“We are always linking with clubs on scans and assessments. There is also how every individual player feels, so there is a lot involved.”
Southgate added: “I am always working with the players on what the best solution is for them. Of course, we always want the players and we always want to work with them as often as we can.
“In every squad we have, we always lose a couple. My focus then has to be on the group that are here, and how do we win the games?”

After their 2-1 win over Italy on Thursday, England will take on Ukraine looking to make it two wins out of two.
