West Ham United have seen their loan offer for Harry Maguire rejected by Manchester United.
The United captain has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford after seeing his game time severely limited since the arrival of Erik ten Hag in the summer.
Ten Hag brought in Lisandro Martinez as one of his marquee signings and has often played him alongside Frenchman Raphael Varane.

In recent weeks, Luke Shaw, who is mainly a left-back has been picked to start at the heart of United’s defence ahead of Maguire, leading to speculation that he is likely to be moved on.
However, as reported by the Daily Mail, United would like to keep hold of Maguire and have insisted he will not leave the club.
West Ham, who currently sit 18th in the Premier League table are looking to bring in reinforcements to bolster their squad.

It was reported that they made an ambitious bid to take Maguire on loan for the rest of the season but their offer was quickly rebuffed.
It is believed that Ten Hag would like to have Maguire at his disposal as United are still fighting in all four competitions.
So far this season, the England international has only made 15 appearances, with seven of them as a starter.
Ten Hag has previously explained why he opted for Shaw ahead of Maguire, especially for last Saturday’s derby win against Manchester City.
He said: “It was a big decision but when you analyse the profile of Haaland and the combination with De Bruyne it was right because Luke has the physical power to compete, the tactical view to make the right decision and technical skills.

“It matched really well but in other games he can contribute even more in wide positions, it’s a tactical choice.
“We can see from game to game. We have more players in our squad who have capacity to be multi-functional and we can use that as a weapon.”
