After Sunday’s embarrassing defeat against Liverpool, Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is now tasked with rebuilding his players’ confidence.
United arrived on Merseyside with the expectation that they can finally end their winless run at Anfield due to Liverpool’s stuttering form.
However, goals from Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Roberto Firmino secured a 7-0 win for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

United players were left shellshocked as they trotted off the Anfield turf, Ten Hag was visibly frustrated with his side’s dismal showing.
On the back of Sunday’s thumping, the United boss is looking to draw up a masterplan to rebuild confidence in his squad.
According to the Daily Mail, the Red Devils squad arrived at Carrington at 9am on Monday looking gloomy, whilst Ten Hag had arrived two hours prior.

It has been reported that the Dutchman told his players: “What happened doesn’t destroy all the good work we have done this season.”
Ten Hag also told his squad to be ‘hungry’ to put things right and spoke about the importance of not being depressed or losing confidence.
The Dutchman opted against showing players the replay of the match but did make his players watch clips in order ‘to make them angry’.
According to a source, Ten Hag made his players sit in silence in the away dressing at Anfield so that they could hear the Liverpool celebrations.

The United boss also believes that his players will benefit from extra sessions with Dutch sports psychologist Rainier Koers, who was brought in by Ten Hag after his appointment.
On the back of the defeat, Ten Hag said: “I analyse the performance of my team, how is their approach, how is ther character, their mentality, how they deal with setbacks, I look at their body language.
“They did not cope with it. They did not fulfil their jobs.”

United are back in action on Thursday as they take on Spanish La Liga side Real Betis in the Europa League.
