"I think" - Jamie Carragher makes Man United vs Liverpool prediction

"I think" - Jamie Carragher makes Man United vs Liverpool prediction

Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool will beat Man United

The return of Monday Night Football sees Liverpool take the short trip to Old Trafford to face their fiercest rivals, Man United, and Jamie Carragher believes Jurgen Klopp's side will win the game.

It has been a horrendous start to the season for Erik Ten Hag and his United side, with 0 points on the board after two games for the Red Devils.

A 2-1 loss to Brighton at home on the opening day and a trip to Brentford which resulted in a 4-0 thumping, leaves the 13-time Premier League champions sitting 19th in the table heading into tonight’s clash.

Although they are unbeaten so far this season, it has been an equally tough start to the campaign for Liverpool who have had to come from behind in both their fixtures to earn draws against Crystal Palace and Fulham - two sides that the Reds would favour themselves to beat.

In addition, these two games have added crucial names to the list of players that Klopp is unable to select, with Thiago hobbling off injured against the Cottagers, and Darwin Nunez getting a red card for headbutting Palace defender Joachim Andersen.

Carragher, who made more than 700 appearances for Liverpool, has had his say of who he thinks will win this evening’s fixture.

“I think Liverpool will just win, I think it will be tough. I think Liverpool will win 2-1, I can see United getting a goal, I can," he said, speaking to the Sky Sports Football podcast.

"The atmosphere there, the high line, they have pace in behind."

"I don’t think Liverpool have been defending well this season in the three games they’ve had."

"There have been a lot of opportunities for the opposition. I can see United scoring, but I think Liverpool have enough to get a couple of goals."

United vs Liverpool is always a monumental clash, but with both sets of fans unhappy with how this season has started for their club, there is added pressure for each side to earn three points this evening.
