‘Disrespectful’ Cristiano Ronaldo slammed for blanking Jamie Carragher

‘Disrespectful’ Cristiano Ronaldo slammed for blanking Jamie Carragher

Ronaldo appeared to ignore Carragher ahead of Manchester United’s clash against Liverpool.

Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo has been slammed for showing disrespect after he blanked former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher in the pre match build up.

Carragher was on punditry duty for Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football alongside former United players Roy Keane and Gary Neville

Ronaldo was warming up on the pitch and walked over to greet his former United teammates, but he then appeared to snub Carragher

Sky presenter Dave Jones joked about Ronaldo’s snub with Carragher by saying: “A nice conversation with you Jamie I thought.”

Carragher laughed it off by saying he was totally blanked by the five time Ballon d’Or winner.

On the back of this incident, former Liverpool left back Jose Enrique took to social media to blast Ronaldo for his actions.

He said: “The disrespect here from Cristiano Ronaldo to Carra isn’t right.

Keane and Gary(Neville) they have been killing him on Sky Sports as well so I’m sure is not because of that.

“Someone that played football for that long and made so many appearances for Liverpool at least you say hi out of respect.

“Another thing why I will never like Cristiano Ronaldo and when football finish let’s see who he will have around being like this.”

Enrique has been vocal on social media ever since he retired from playing professional football and he rarely holds back when expressing his opinions on football related matters.

Ronaldo started on the bench for United’s confident boosting 2-1 win over Liverpool amid ongoing speculations regarding his Old Trafford future.

The Portuguese international rocked United to the core last month with a sensational transfer request after the club’s dismal 21/22 campaign that resulted in them failing to qualify for the Champions League

However, despite his desire to move elsewhere, a move is unlikely to materialise as United remain adamant that he is not for sale.

Erik ten Hag has previously stated that Ronaldo is part of his plans for the season.

He said last month: “We are planning with Cristiano Ronaldo for this season and that's it. I'm looking forward to working with him.

“I don't know [how to make him happy], he hasn't told me this. But Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale, he's in our plans and we want to get success together.”

Next up for Ronaldo and his teammates will be a trip to the St. Mary’s stadium as they take on Southampton on Saturday.
