Thierry Henry expertly points out what Marcus Rashford did wrong in Tottenham Hotspur clash

The Manchester United man had two big chances to score.

Thierry Henry has expertly pointed out what Marcus Rashford is doing wrong in front of goal after the Manchester United man spurned two big chances to score.

It was a dominant performance by Erik ten Hag’s side as they ran out 2-0 winners against Tottenham Hotspur thanks to goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes.

However, it could have been more as United had more than 10 shots on target, but Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris was in decent form to deny the Red Devils.

Englishman Rashford started the match after returning from injury and squandered two big chances to widen his side’s lead.

Former Arsenal and Barcelona striker Henry has expertly outlined what Rashford is doing wrong when facing the goalkeeper, stating that power is not always the answer.

He said on Amazon Prime Video: “He could have done better.

“This is what I say when this ball is coming to you, have a look at the goalkeeper to freeze him. Strikers don’t do that often, the ball is coming to you, you know it, you have to look at the goalkeeper to freeze him and he never looked.

“What you do normally, he just fires low and across. Power is not always the answer.”

Henry then spoke about Rashford’s second chance, saying that the 24-year-old again used too much power.

The Frenchman said: “You open the ball up, just finish it.

“Place it down here. Why hard? Side foot, goal, see you later. But it was right at him [the goalkeeper]. But great save from Hugo.”

At this point, former United man Patrice Evra said: “Not everyone has your brain Henry.”

Henry replied: “I know but you have one, use it.”

Ten Hag said after the match: “Against a solid and magnificent Tottenham, we have played and performed very well.

“Today was a brilliant performance. We scored two goals and I think we should have scored three or four goals. I'm pleased with the team - it was the best team performance so far this season. You can see today that we are developing. We are getting better every time on the pitch. It was enjoyable to see this.”

However, United’s night was marred by Cristiano Ronaldo after the Portuguese walked back towards the dressing room before the game ended, sparking a wave of criticism and anger towards the 37-year-old from fans and pundits.
