Bundesliga chief breaks silence on Man Utd target Kolo Muani, he could cost an eye-watering amount

Man Utd will have to pay an eye-watering amount.

Eintracht Frankfurt’s director of football broke his silence amid reports of Manchester United’s interest in Randal Kolo Muani.

The 24-year-old is reportedly on United’s shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window, as Erik ten Hag looks to sign a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Indeed, the Manchester Evening News claimed earlier this week that United had cited both Kolo Muani and Atalanta’s Rasmus Højlund as targets should complications arise in a deal for Tottenham’s Harry Kane.

However, Kolo Muani, who has netted 16 times and claimed 14 assists in his 35 appearances this term, will not come cheap. The France international’s current Frankfurt deal runs until 2027, which puts the Bundesliga club in a powerful negotiation position.

Indeed, Speaking to Sky Germany earlier this month a member of the Frankfurt hierarchy, Timmo Hardung, said the club could afford to reject a potential €120million (£105million) bid for the player.

He said: "So far – I’ve just checked my emails again – nothing has arrived, at least not with me. Yes, we can [reject €120m].

"In the end, it’s not my decision alone. But yes, it’s an awful lot of money for a player – even in that category."

Frankfurt chief on Kolo Muani's future

Speaking this week, Frankfurt’s director of football Markus Krosche has insisted that the club have no intention of selling Kolo Muani in the summer transfer window.

In an interview with Sport1, he said: “We have no intention of selling Kolo Muani now. The hype about him is understandable and normal.

“Another season with us would be good for Randal, we want to continue and not necessarily sell him.”

Krosche’s comments were made after Kolo Muani hinted that he may be open to a summer move.

The forward said: “We talk about it a lot already, but I try to be focused on my club.

“We continue our performances and we will see this summer. Afterwards, I always dreamed of playing in big clubs.”
