Man Utd could complete deal for 'incredible' forward now, he wouldn't cost a penny

Man Utd could complete deal for 'incredible' forward now, he wouldn't cost a penny

This would be a steal.

Manchester United are thought to be interested in signing Marco Reus, with the Borussia Dortmund winger's contract set to run out in the summer.

Erik ten Hag has made three loan signings in January, adding goalkeeper Jack Butland, striker Wout Weghorst and midfielder Marcel Sabitzer to the squad, but it wasn't all plain sailing.

The Red Devils looked to have their transfer business done and dusted before Ten Hag was forced into action on deadline day, following an injury to Christian Eriksen.

In response, the Dutchman completed the emergency loan signing of Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich, ensuring extra cover in midfield.

Ten Hag is thought to be in the market for further attacking recruits this summer, with United eyeing Champions League football next season - and Reus' name has been thrown into the mix.

Reus to Man Utd?

The Borussia Dortmund star is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and has been linked with a move to Old Trafford, as well as teams in the Middle East.

According to journalist Christian Falk, via Caught Offside, United could snap him up for free in the summer.

Falk claimed the Red Devils are “an option” when it comes to Reus’ next destination. His agent was reportedly in the stands when United beat bitter rivals Manchester City 2-1 earlier in the month.

Falks claimed that Ten Hag subsequently held a meeting with Reus’ representative, in which the United boss expressed his interest in signing the 33-year-old.

However, for now, United are yet to make an approach for the German.

Reus has scored more than 150 senior goals for Dortmund since joining the side in 2012, and has been linked with a move to the Premier League ever since he emerged as one of Europe's top wingers.

However, injuries have hindered his progress, missing out on both the 2014 and 2022 World Cup tournaments. Now in his thirties, Reus has been limited to just nine Bundesliga appearances this season, registering two goals and a further two assists.
