Marcus Rashford just scored one of the best goals of his career so far, he's unstoppable right now

The England international has returned from the World Cup with a point to prove.

Marcus Rashford is in the form of his life right now.

The 25-year-old forward, who struggled in large spells for boyhood club Manchester United last season, looks to have picked up such much-needed confidence in recent months.

And just days after returning from this winter's World Cup in Qatar, the England international scored a sublime solo effort during Wednesday night's Carabao Cup clash against Burnley.

Rashford picked the ball up in his own half before driving at the Clarets defence. Then, after running at least 40 yards, he breezed past Jordan Beyer before slotting home with a powerful effort.

How good was that? The goal was even compared to Ryan Giggs' famous individual effort against Arsenal in that FA Cup semi-final.

Here's how fans reacted to the goal.

One said: "Superb from Rashford. Best piece of play he has ever produced from the right," while another commented: "Mbappe will have to come here if he wants to play with his idol Rashford I’m afraid."

A third wrote: "Nothing makes me happier than Marcus Rashford playing like he's happy and enjoying it. For a club that has had a lack of characters that fans can connect to in recent years, it matters."

Christian Eriksen opened the scoring for Erik ten Hag's side in Wednesday night's Carabao Cup round of 16 tie after some great play from Aaron Wan-Bissaka down the right.

United continued to dominate against the Championship leaders before Rashford's sublime effort doubled their lead.

As mentioned earlier, it has been an impressive few months for Rashford and earlier this week, he was rewarded with a one-year contract extension alongside Fred, Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw.

Earlier this month, United manager Ten Hag said he was one of the world's best.

"From the first moment, I recognised huge potential," he said. "And now to get out the potential, I believe when Marcus's positioning is on the back of the defending line, there is almost no better player in the world.

"There is Mbappe in this moment, a type like him, but when he [Marcus] is getting in that position, he's great and you see he's really improved also out of possession."

Ten Hag added: "One of the first things I said to him was come to training and smile.

"We bring him exercises that hopefully bring players joy. They have to be effective but they have to be joyful as well and that gives you energy when you are happy. When you see the benefit of it, you can be happy.

"Actually, Marcus was one, from the start, who came with a smile to Carrington and left with a smile day by day. And, from the first moment, it really was a joy to work with him. I recognise his talent and his finishing talent [is] great.

"For instance, the headed goal against West Ham United, I don't think he makes goals like that so often. But he's investing in it, I triggered him a little bit, he worked with our specific coaches on it, on finishing with headers and then you see he got the benefit from it.

"So when I say he is the one who plays on the shoulder from the defending line, make sure you're coming in such situations and it's really difficult to stop him."
