Man Utd forward Anthony Elanga admits 'frustration' at lack of playing time as Ten Hag talks revealed

Man Utd forward Anthony Elanga admits 'frustration' at lack of playing time as Ten Hag talks revealed

Anthony Elanga has admitted that his lack of playing time is "frustrating".

Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga has admitted that his lack of playing time under Erik ten Hag this season has been "frustrating".

The Swedish international broke through into United's first team on a regular basis last season, scoring two goals in 21 Premier League appearances.

He also scored for United against Atletico Madrid in a Champions League last 16 tie under Ralf Rangnick, and hoped to kick on this term.

Elanga even nearly broke a world record for a standing jump last summer - with his 63 inch effort just four inches off the record set by personal trainer Chris Spell.

He has made 16 league appearances this term, although the majority of those have been from the bench.

And Everton were desperate to bring him in on loan in January, with Sky Sports reporter Vinny O'Connor claiming that the Toffees could not convince United to sanction a move.

Now, the 20-year-old has opened up on a difficult season in a new interview.

Elanga admits Man Utd situation is "frustrating"

Speaking to Aftonbladet, Elanga admitted that he wants to play more under Erik ten Hag - and revealed he has held private talks with the Dutch boss about his current situation.

He explained (quotes via Daily Mail): "It is frustrating. You want to play, it's important. But whether you play or not, it's up to the coach not me.

"I have spoken to Erik [ten Hag] and it is private between the two of us. I know what he wants me to do and I just keep training hard. When the opportunity comes, I just have to be ready to take it.

"We have a lot of conversations, not only about [lack of game time] but also what is happening around. That's the good thing about the club, we talk a lot and they help me a lot.

"There was talk about it [Everton move], but right now I'm focusing on United. We still have a big season ahead of us and need to finish as well as possible.

"The best thing I can do is focus on the rest of the season and then I will get to talk to the club. I love the club, but it's important for me to play."
