Erik ten Hag facing nightmare scenario with the Glazers considering controversial Man Utd decision

Man Utd fans won't be happy.

The Glazers are considering making a controversial decision that could have implications for Manchester United’s transfer window.

It’s been over six months since the Glazers announced they were exploring “strategic alternatives” for United, and there is still uncertainty over who will take ownership of the club next season.

Ineos owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim are both vying to take the reins at the Old Trafford club, but the Glazer family are yet to have reached a final decision over a preferred bidder.

Ratcliffe, who is Britain’s second richest man, is allegedly the favourite to take control of United, having submitted a bid to purchase a majority stake while reportedly allowing Joel and Avram Glazer to maintain a connection with the club.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Jassim is said to have offered in the region of £5billion for a 100 per cent stake in United and vowed to clear the club of its debts.

However, the Qatari’s offer is short of the Glazer’s £6billion valuation.

Man Utd sale update

According to ESPN sources, the Glazer family are considering delaying a decision on whether to sell the club until after the end of the season.

In March staff were allegedly told that there would be “clarity” on the ownership situation by the end of the campaign at the latest.

However, there are allegedly now concerns the Glazers are delaying their decision until after the end of the season.

Such a decision would likely affect Ten Hag’s transfer plans. The Dutchman is hoping for a busy summer window, with the club particularly hopeful of signing a striker.

Yet the ongoing uncertainty over the club’s ownership will likely reflect United’s ability to negotiate and transfer budget.

According to one ESPN source a reason for the delay is that the Glazers are still trying to come to an agreement about their future with United.

Joel and Avram Glazer are thought to be reluctant to give up their stake.
