Dubai eyeing stunning Manchester United takeover amid '$10.6bn bid' reports

Dubai investors are eyeing a stunning takeover of Manchester United amid news the Glazers are willing to sell the Premier League club.

Dubai investors are eyeing a stunning takeover of Manchester United amid news the Glazers are willing to sell the Premier League club, according to a report.

Man Utd’s controversial owners, the Glazers, yesterday said they are considering selling the club as they "explore strategic alternatives".

The Americans controversially bought the club for £790million ($1.34billion) in 2005, and their ownership has been the target of protest from fans ever since.

A statement from the club said the board will "consider all strategic alternatives, including new investment into the club, a sale, or other transactions involving the company".

Furthermore, the process "will include an assessment of several initiatives to strengthen the club, including stadium and infrastructure redevelopment, and expansion of the club's commercial operations on a global scale" to enhance "the long-term success of the club's men's, women's and academy teams, and bringing benefits to fans and other stakeholders".

There has been much speculation over who may be willing to buy Man Utd.

Is Dubai keen on purchasing Man Utd?

According to a report from Arabian Business, Dubai is likely to be among the interested buyers in Man Utd.

The report sensationally claims that Dubai investors could make a $10.6billion (£8.8billion) bid for the club - a figure that would surpass the biggest price ever paid for a sports team by a distance.

While such an offer on Man Utd seems unlikely, Dubai has repeatedly been linked with a move to buy the club.

Indeed, the publication noted that in September there was a series of reports claiming Dubai’s sovereign wealth fund would be a potential bidder for Man Utd if the club became available.

Reports claim that the Glazers would sell Man Utd for anywhere between £5billion and £9billion.
