"He hopes..." - Romano reveals future of Man Utd target David Raya in major boost for Ten Hag

"He hopes..." - Romano reveals future of Man Utd target David Raya in major boost for Ten Hag

Ten Hag receives a transfer boost.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed update on the future of Brentford goalkeeper David Raya which will provide a huge boost to Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.

Raya whose contract with The Bees runs out next summer has excelled since joining the West London club back in 2019 and has been a key part of their success.

Thomas Frank's side are currently challenging for Europe and sit ninth just three points off Brighton in seventh.

Their bright season has led to several clubs showing interest in Raya who has registered nine clean sheets this season.

One of those is United and a recent update from journalist Romano will give them even more confidence of landing the Spaniard.

What did he say?

Posting on Twitter, Romano said: "David Raya will not sign a new deal, no changes on his future as many important clubs are monitoring him closely for the summer.

"Understand Brentford will ask €40m fee for Raya - while player position is clear: he hopes for top club move."

It's recently been suggested by The Telegraph that United could be interested in bringing in Raya as a replacement for long-serving goalkeeper David de Gea.

He's ahead of De Gea in the pecking order for Spain and could soon replace him at Old Trafford.

However, his rise in the national team has alerted several clubs in La Liga which could potentially make his decision even harder if he decides to leave Brentford.

Tottenham Hotspur are also looking for a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris and with Raya already living in London this could prove an attractive option.

If Romano is right and he's chosen not to sign a new deal then Brentford will want to sell him as soon as possible so they can get a fee rather than him leaving for free next year.
