Man Utd plotting move for Atalanta wonderkid whose value has increased by 600 per cent this season

Man Utd plotting move for Atalanta wonderkid whose value has increased by 600 per cent this season

Man Utd are reportedly plotting a move for an Atalanta wonderkid.

Manchester United are considering a move for Atalanta wonderkid Rasmus Hojland this summer, according to reports, as manager Erik ten Hag looks to recruit a new striker.

Ten Hag was keen to bolster United's striking options in January, following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo by mutual agreement.

The Dutchman managed to bring Wout Weghorst in on a loan deal from Championship side Burnley, although it is not expected that the move will become permanent.

Burnley boss Vincent Kompany told LancsLive last month that the Clarets will hold talks with the 30-year-old about his future should they get promoted to the Premier League.

Ten Hag, therefore, is likely to look elsewhere, and United have been linked with a plethora of strikers.

One of those is Tottenham striker Harry Kane, although Spurs' asking price may be a stumbling block. The Times report that the north London club want an upfront payment of £100 million to sell England's record goalscorer, whose contract expires in 2024.

Another option for United could be Hojlund, who continues to impress on both the club and international stage.

According to Danish outlet Ekstra Bladet (via Metro), United have shown 'concrete' interest in the 20-year-old, who joined Atalanta from Austrian side Sturm Graz last summer.

He has impressed during his spell in Serie A, scoring seven goals in 23 league appearances.

And during the ongoing international break, he netted a hat-trick in Denmark's 3-1 win over Finland on Thursday, before scoring twice in a 3-2 defeat to Kazakhstan on Sunday.

The tall striker, who stands at over 6ft 1in, received praise from Danish outlet BT after his Finland hat-trick, who wrote: "This, he will never forget! It was pure magic.

"It looks like Denmark has got the answer they've been looking for for so terribly long. He looks like the new dangerous number nine in the Danish national team! What a game from the giant talent who has taken Serie A by storm."

Furthermore, as per Transfermarkt, his transfer value has skyrocketed by an incredible 677 per cent.

Now valued at €35 million, it is likely that United would have to pay a higher fee to bring him to Old Trafford - especially after his recent international exploits.
