Manchester City fans mocked for Premier League title celebrations

Manchester City fans mocked for Premier League title celebrations

Manchester City fans were mocked for their title celebrations, after Arsenal's loss to Nottingham Forest handed them a third Premier League championship in-a-row.

City fans were probably expecting to have to wait for Sunday to kick off their celebrations, knowing a win over Chelsea would secure the title.

However, following their destruction at the hands of Brighton last weekend, Arsenal were once again off the pace when taking on Forest on Saturday evening.

Taiwo Awoniyi's goal in the 19th minute was enough to separate the two teams and guarantee Steve Cooper's side remain in the top tier next season.

Of course it was the top of the table where people were concentrating, with Pep Guardiola picking up a fifth title in six years with the players celebrating together.

And a group of fans gathered outside of the Etihad Stadium to celebrate and sing about their team's success, as you can see in the video below.

City are often accused of not having many fans, especially when there appears to be swathes of empty seats inside the ground even at some of their biggest games.

And rival fans were quick to jump on the fact that there weren't many outside the host venue for the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

"More media than fans," laughed one fan.

"According to City there were 200,000 in attendance," joked a second.

A third claimed, "I did karaoke in a pub with more people around."

Another rather sarcastically added, "True passion desire and energy by the masses at Man City. What a spectacle."

One Manchester United fan went deep, saying, "The greatest lie ever told in recent years is that City are a football club. They're like those pop-up Chinese ghost cities, built in years but no-one actually lives there."

"And the 10 strong crowd go wild," stated another supporter.

"More financial breaches than the number of fans at the Etihad celebrating winning the Premier League," replied a sixth, referencing the charges against City that have left many numb to their success.

There could be more celebrations to come outside the Etihad before the end of the season, with the Treble still a real possibility for City.

They must defeat Manchester United in the FA Cup final before then facing Inter Milan in the Champions League final, as they bid to become European champions for the first time.

More fans could be left in Manchester than flying to Istanbul for the game, with the cost of getting to Turkey and then buying a ticket being absurd.
