Man Utd star who has made 25 first-team appearances this season is earning just £7000 per week

He's set for a massive pay rise.

Manchester United star Alejandro Garnacho is earning just £7000 a week, according to a fresh report.

United’s season has been marked by steady improvement on the pitch.

Erik ten Hag’s side continue to fight on four fronts. Indeed, they sit in third in the Premier League, comfortably occupying the Champions League spots, while this week they take on Barcelona in the Europa League play-off second leg and face Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

Much of their recent success has been down to the blistering form of Marcus Rashford, who has netted an incredible 16 times in his past 17 appearances.

However, the England international’s 18-year-old understudy Garnacho has also emerged as an important figure in Ten Hag’s side.

In his 25 first-team appearances this season, the Argentina youth international has netted three times and claimed five assists.

Garnacho contract situation

TalkSPORT claimed Garnacho is close to signing a new contract at United, with his current deal thought to be worth just £7000-a-week.

A deal in principle has reportedly already been agreed upon after months of negotiations, with Garnacho's current deal expiring in 2024.

The teenager is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year contract. The final stumbling block is an issue regarding the winger’s image rights.

Garnacho will allegedly receive a considerable pay rise that will take him from his academy salary of around £7000 per week to a first-team wage. In turn, the youngster’s pay will “drastically increase”.

Both parties reportedly want to finalise Garnacho’s new deal as quickly as possible.

The club is aiming to have the bumper new contract over the line to avoid any distractions, with United still involved in four competitions.
