"You shouldn't.." - Man Utd boss Ten Hag sent Garnacho warning as Real Madrid and Juventus circle

"You shouldn't.." - Man Utd boss Ten Hag sent Garnacho warning as Real Madrid and Juventus circle

He's made his opinions clear.

Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag been urged to not rely too much on teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho this season, by former Liverpool player John Barnes.

Garnacho is yet another successful academy graduate at Old Trafford and played a starring role in United's FA Youth Cup winning campaign last season.

He has since made seven Premier League appearances this term and directly contributed in three goals during that period.

Liverpool legend John Barnes was recently asked about Garnacho's rise in a BonusCodesBets promotion, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

He said: "Garnacho is a great talent and he has great potential. He's quick and exciting on the ball.

"However, you shouldn't look to these young players to ensure United finish in the top four. He's come into a team that are now playing with harmony, with togetherness.

"That will be good for him. But he has to be looked after, he should be dipped in and out of the team."

Garnacho set to snub Real Madrid and Juventus

His impressive performances haven't gone unnoticed and have caught the eye of several clubs including Real Madrid and Juventus who have shown interest in buying him.

Despite this, the 18-year-old is reported to have committed his future to the Red Devils and is close to signing a new contract with the club.

According to the Telegraph, as reported by the Metro, Garnacho's current deal runs until 2025 but he wants to stay beyond that.

A potential new contract would see his current £5,000 per week wage significantly increased, although United are wary of past mistakes and don't want to give another youngster too much too soon.

Garnacho, who was born in Madrid, joined United's academy from Atletico Madrid in 2020 and is believed to have turned down the chance to move back to the city and join Real.

With manager Ten Hag wanting to reduce the age of his squad and place a strong focus on younger players, staying put is the best option for him.
