‘Manchester United Are So Far Away You Can’t See Them Fighting For Fourth, They Were Shocking!’

Manchester United have been told that they are ‘so far away’ that they will not be challenging for top four next season.

New boss Erik ten Hag has been tasked with bringing the glory days back to Old Trafford after yet another dismal season for the club.

Despite numerous high profile exits that included the likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata, United haven’t bought in any new players in the window.

Former Chelsea and West Ham defender Scott Minto has ripped into United, saying that they are so far off that they will not be fighting for the top four places next season.

He said on talkSPORT: “I think Manchester United are so far away you can’t see them fighting for fourth next season. I just can’t see it, not at the moment anyway.”

His co presenter then joked: “I dare you to say that to Erik ten Hag!”

Minto replied: “Well I’m sure he is fighting behind the scenes to try and get players in. But at the moment, I’m sorry, you know the end of last season they were shocking!”

“I did the Brighton game and they got away with 4-0, they are a million miles away from finishing fourth let alone going for the title.”

The 21/22 started with optimism as Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane were all bought in by the club. But the optimism quickly faded as the team failed to live up to the expectations.

In November, after a 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool and a 4-1 defeat by Watford, club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked.

German Ralf Rangnick came in as the interim manager but the performances were still bad, they were arguably worse than when Solskjaer was in charge. United ended the season with the club’s lowest ever Premier League points tally as they finished sixth.

With the new season fast approaching, a lot of work is still to be done as United are looking to bring in some much needed quality into the squad.

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Ajax winger Antony are believed to be the club’s top targets in the summer transfer window.

Will Ten Hag be given the time and the resources he needs in order to be a success at United? Only time will tell.
