Agent flies to the UK to hold talks with Man Utd and Newcastle over deal for World Cup star

Agent flies to the UK to hold talks with Man Utd and Newcastle over deal for World Cup star

A Premier League move could be on the cards.

Manchester United and Newcastle could have the opportunity to sign Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries, with the player's agent said to have travelled to England to discuss a transfer.

Erik ten Hag is thought to be an admirer of the Netherlands international, having ‘directly asked’ for the signing of Dumfries according to reports.

Newcastle have also been linked with the full-back, who impressed for the Netherlands at the World Cup in Qatar - assisting twice against the United States, before capping off his performance with a well-taken goal.

Ten Hag is thought to be in the market for a right-back, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka's future currently up in the air, despite starting eight of United's last nine games in place of the injured Diogo Dalot.

Dumfries' agent in England

Dumfries' agent, Rafaela Pimenta, has made a trip to England to hold talks with several Premier League sides, according to Calciomercato. The report states that Pimenta has already spoken to both Manchester United and Newcastle.

Chelsea were also rumoured to be interested, as they seek cover for the injured Reece James, but they are said to favour Lyon defender Malo Gusto.

As of yet, Inter haven't received any offers, with the Serie A side reportedly wanting between £35 and £45million for his services, a fee that both United and the Magpies consider excessive.

It is now thought that Dumfries is unlikely to leave Italy in the coming days, with a move expected to be pushed back to the summer unless someone pays up.

The Wan-Bissaka dilemma

Wan-Bissaka has been rumoured with a move away from Old Trafford for some time now. However, Ten Hag appears to have made a U-turn on the Englishman.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the players' future, believing he has a good chance of staying in Manchester.

Romano said on his YouTube channel: "On the right-back situation, there is an important update. Aaron Wan-Bissaka now has a very good chance to stay at Manchester United. In November and December, he was available on the market after a difficult first part of the season. Now the feeling is the opposite."

Although, Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane questioned his ability during his damning assessment of the right-back's performance against Arsenal.
