PSG plot shock move for Manchester United star, it's not Marcus Rashford

Paris Saint-Germain are plotting a surprise move for Manchester United midfielder Fred, according to a report.

Paris Saint-Germain are plotting a surprise move for Manchester United midfielder Fred, according to a report.

Earlier this month PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi admitted he would be interested in signing United forward Marcus Rashford on a free transfer in the summer.

Al-Khelaifi told Sky Sports at the time: “He’s another player that is really amazing. And for free? To have Rashford for free, every club would run after him, definitely.

“We’re not hiding it, we spoke before and… interest. But the moment was not a good moment for both sides. Maybe, summer, why not?”

United have since activated a one-year extension in the 25-year-old’s contract, thereby cooling any talk of Rashford leaving Old Trafford imminently.

However, his often derided team-mate, Fred, has also emerged as a surprise transfer target for PSG.

Fred to PSG?

Despite United also triggering a one-year extension in Fred’s contract earlier this week, the Sun have claimed the Brazilian international is on a list of potential PSG signings for next summer.

The French giants are said to be long-term admirers of the midfielder and want him to bolster their engine room.

Fred has struggled for game-time under United boss ten Hag, having started just four of 14 Premier League games this term.

While he has enjoyed a strong partnership with club team-mate Casemiro on the international stage, the 29-year-old is behind Christian Eriksen in United’s midfield pecking order.

Nevertheless, the Sun claim that United would not consider selling the player for anything less than £30million, with ten Hag said to be impressed by the player’s attitude despite his limited game-time.

A move to PSG may appeal to the midfielder, as it would give him the chance to secure more game time and join international colleagues Neymar and Marquinhos in the French capital.
