"Wow..." - Sancho posts emotional message on social media after Ten Hag profile picture change

"Wow..." - Sancho posts emotional message on social media after Ten Hag profile picture change

Fans will be pleased to see him back.

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho posted an emotional tribute to Red Devils fans following a spell away from the game.

The 22-year-old made his first appearance for the club since October, coming on as a substitute in Wednesday's 2-0 Carabao Cup win against Nottingham Forest.

The England international joined United from Borussia Dortmund for £73million in 2021. However, has not had the easiest start to life in the Premier League, struggling to translate his excellent form in Germany.

In his first season at Old Trafford, he managed just four goals and three assists - a stark contrast from his 16 goals and 14 assists for Dortmund the previous year.

Following his omission from Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad, Erik ten Hag decided to send Sancho to the Netherlands to work away from the rest of the squad.

This was amid concerns over his physical and mental wellbeing, where he also took a break from social media.

Sancho posts tribute to fans

Sancho re-joined first team training in late December, with Ten Hag hesitant to rush him back.

Although, a return to football has also seen a return to social media for Sancho, who posted a touching message thanking fans for their support.

After the game, he shared a short video on Instagram of himself coming off the bench at Old Trafford, accompanied by the message: "Wow! Just want to say a massive thank you to everyone for the support I’ve received over the past few weeks especially to the fans.

"My focus is to give my all to my team and the club, I’m so happy to be back out on the pitch, see you soon."

Sancho shows appreciation for Ten Hag

Sancho endured a difficult start to the campaign under Ten Hag, losing his place in the line-up before the World cup break.

But the winger has shown his appreciation for the manager, changing his profile picture to an image of himself and Ten Hag, taken moments before he entered the field of play.

United face Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon, and Sancho might expect to be involved again as the club seek to close the gap on Manchester City and Arsenal ahead of them.
