Man Utd looking to sign another player in January as club's budget revealed

Manchester United are looking to sign another striker in January, according to a fresh report.

Manchester United are looking to sign another striker in January, according to a fresh report.

At the beginning of the January window, United prioritised the signing of a striker.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s acrimonious departure had meant the club only had the in-form Marcus Rashford and injury-prone Anthony Martial capable of playing the central striker role.

Erik ten Hag has since signed Burnley’s Wout Weghorst on loan for the rest of the season as a short-term striker option.

However, the Old Trafford club may make further January additions to consolidate their top-four credentials in the second half of the season.

United to sign another striker?

According to a SportsMail report, United are still looking to sign another striker before the January window slams shut next Tuesday.

However, the club would reportedly only do a deal provided it is a loan move with a small fee.

Indeed, the club have publicly maintained a stance that they would do no more business before the end of the window.

Yet, looking to the summer United have been linked with deals for some of Europe’s more sought-after forwards. Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Goncalo Ramos have all been linked with permanent moves to Old Trafford in the coming months.

Ten Hag undecided over loans

Ten Hag is reportedly undecided about whether to let youngsters Facundo Pellistri and Anthony Elanga leave on loan this month.

Elanga has been linked with a temporary switch to both Borussia Dortmund and Everton while La Liga side Valencia have been keeping tabs on Pellistri's situation.

Sweden international Elanga prospered under former United boss Ralf Rangnick and has racked up an impressive 47 appearances already for the Red Devils.

Yet his form has dipped in the last year, with the 20-year-old having not netted for the Old Trafford club since last February.

Nevertheless, the United boss is said to be reluctant to allow any players to go this month, given the Old Trafford club’s relatively thin squad.
