Man Utd put on red alert with striker 'keen to leave' current club, he's the perfect Ronaldo replacement

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix reportedly wants to leave the club, as per reports, with Man Utd said to be interested in the player.

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix reportedly wants to leave the club, according to reports, with Man Utd said to be interested in the player.

Felix has been linked with United throughout this season, and has not been a regular starter for Atletico in recent months.

In fact, in his last 10 appearances at club level, the Portugal international has started just twice.

He has regularly been behind Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann in the pecking order at Atletico, and has recorded four goals and three assists in 18 games this term.

United, meanwhile, are on the lookout for a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the club by mutual agreement on Tuesday.

Ronaldo and Felix will combine on the international stage, with both players representing their nation at the World Cup in Qatar.

And, when the tournament ends, Erik ten Hag's side could swoop for a player that cost Atletico a princely £113 million fee when he joined the club from Benfica in 2019.

Now, new reports suggest that his time in Madrid may be coming to an end soon.

Joao Felix could leave Atletico

According to Spanish outlet AS, Felix wants to leave Atletico, with the player said to be 'disappointed' with manager Diego Simeone over his current role in the side.

It is claimed, however, that the club will not sell him for a small fee, and a loan could be a potential option to allow him to depart Madrid.

But there have also been no bids placed for his services as of yet, with Felix prepared to wait until after the World Cup before making any decision on his future.

The 23-year-old is currently in international action in Qatar, with Portugal taking on Ghana in Group H. They will then face group stage fixtures against Uruguay and South Korea.

Ahead of the tournament, Felix said: "I have more freedom of movement with the national team because we are very mobile.

"I feel good, and the team had a great game [in their pre-World Cup friendly 4-0 win vs Nigeria]. I think we are prepared to win the World Cup."
