Alejandro Garacho appears to like post saying he shouldn't start for Manchester United

After failing to make an impact against Leeds United on Wednesday night, many United fans might agree with the sentiment.

Alejandro Garnacho appeared to like a tweet that said he shouldn't start for Manchester United, as the team's potential title challenge once again looked to have come to a premature end.

For as much as Erik ten Hag has improved United in his short time in charge of the team so far, there clearly remains a fallibility within them.

Twice recently they have had a real chance of joining the title race before stumbling at the first hurdle.

The first occasion came in January, when they defeated Manchester City only to draw with Crystal Palace and lose to Arsenal, last weekend both Arsenal and City lost, allowing United to once again close the gap.

Having this time defeated Palace, they hosted managerless Leeds United on Wednesday night, knowing a win would take them level on points with City.

They had to battle back from 2-0 down to earn a point against their rivals from across the Pennines, after struggling for the first hour of the game.

Young star Garnacho was one of those who couldn't get going, and the forward appears to think he's not ready to start in games just yet.

Either that or he agrees with another opinion from a fan, after the 18-year-old was caught liking a tweet, before it soon disappeared from his list of likes on Twitter.

United fan Zee, who has a picture of the teenage forward celebrating as his bio picture, wrote, "1. [Marcus] Rashford either plays upfront or LW - playing him RW cost us today. 2. Our midfield depth is a joke - we ended up with [Victor] Lindelof and Fred in midfield. 3. Garnacho not ready to be a starter. 4. [Jadon] Sancho looked great - should start next game. 5. Fred had an absolute shocker."

Really it's tough to disagree with much of what Zee actually said when looking at the performance from Ten Hag's side.

The Dutchman started with Rashford on the right, instead of his usual position, due to the injury to Antony and the fact that Sancho was just coming back from his long hiatus, and had an illness ahead of the game.

Without Christian Eriksen or Casemiro, through injury and suspension, Fred started in defensive midfield, which is a worse position for him, alongside new signing Marcel Sabitzer, before Lindelof came on later.

Garnacho, who has been very good during his performances previously, wasn't at his best and United undoubtedly improved when Sancho and Facundo Pellistri were brought on.

It was good to see the England forward back in the team after he had been missing since October, and he scored the equaliser, after Rashford opened the scoring when moved to the middle.

Garnacho also liked a second tweet saying that he wasn't fit to start Premier League games, before that one again was unliked quickly.

The Spanish born forward was unhappy last weekend when he came on as a substitute against Palace only to be taken off when Casemiro was sent off.

His contract is due to expire in 15 months time and the club could even break with their own tradition in order to make sure he signs on for a longer contract.
