United have made contact with his agent.

Manchester United have approached Inter Milan boss Simone Inzaghi over becoming the next permanent manager at Old Trafford, according to reports in Italy.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has been placed in charge of the side until the end of the season, when he will take up a consultancy role at the club.

United are continuing their search for his replacement, with Paris Saint-German head coach Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax’s Erik ten Haag strongly linked with the role.

According to Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, Inter Milan head coach Inzaghi has also been approached by United.

Former Lazio boss Inzaghi took charge at Inter in the summer following Antonio Conte’s departure from the club.

He has made an impressive start at the San Siro and has guided the club to the top of Seria A – where they are one point clear of their rivals AC Milan.

The report claims Atletico Madrid are also interested in Inzaghi, with the Spanish side reportedly considering replacing long-time manager Diego Simeone ahead of next season.

Inter are aware of the interest around Inzaghi and are preparing to offer him a new contract, which would keep him at the club until 2025.

The Italian club are also willing to double his salary at the San Siro in an effort to convince him to stay.

Meanwhile, PSG boss Pochettino is said to have maintained ‘secret contact’ with United over a potential summer move.

French newspaper Le Parisien claims senior figures in the United boardroom are keen to appoint Pochettino as manager, while Rangnick prefers Ten Hag.
