Manchester United's potential new Qatari owners don't have as big a net worth as many of their Premier League rivals, they could be better off with Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

United fans are readying themselves for what could be a monumental day, sometime in the relatively near future, with the Glazer family looking to sell.

The club could be in the hand of new owners by next season, which would end 18 years of the Glazers ownership.

First Qatar's 'chairman of banks,' Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani was confirmed as having made a bid, and later in February, Britain's richest man, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, announced through INEOS he was the second bidder.

Some fans will be wary of the Middle East investors, due to the human rights record of the country, as was the issue with hosting the World Cup in Qatar last year.

Others won't mind, as long as the new owners clear the Glazers' debts, invest in the club and bring success, however, Al Thani's personal net worth is not actually high as Ratcliffe's.

The Nice owner would come in as the fourth richest owner in the Premier League, if his bid was given the green light, behind only United's rivals.

Whilst Manchester City's owners have done very well with their money at the Etihad Stadium, it's far from guaranteed that money equals success.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has splashed around half a billion in transfers since coming to the Premier League, and his side continue to struggle.
