Man Utd suffer major injury blow ahead of Real Betis clash as Erik ten Hag provides Casemiro update

Manchester United have suffered an injury blow ahead of their Europa League clash with Real Betis.
The Old Trafford club take on Betis on Thursday in the Europa League last-16 first leg - their first match since the weekend’s 7-0 defeat to Liverpool.
While Sunday saw United suffer their heaviest loss since Boxing Day 1931, the club had been on an 11-game unbeaten run prior to the mauling.
Ten Hag will be hoping for a response from his side against Betis, a team that topped their Europa League group and sit fifth in La Liga.
United’s last five European campaigns have ended in defeat to Spanish opposition, while the club also lost to Real Sociedad in the group stage in September.
However, if the Red Devils are to break their wretched run of form against Spanish sides they will have to do so without one of their key midfielders.
Ten Hag gives update on Sabitzer and Casemiro
Erik ten Hag confirmed Marcel Sabitzer is injured for United’s Europa League clash against Betis, however, Casemiro is available.
Casemiro sustained an early knock at Anfield and looked far from his usual self for the remainder of the encounter. Meanwhile, Sabitzer came on as a second-half substitute at the weekend but was unable to influence the game.
And while Casemiro is fit for Thursday’s game, Ten Hag has revealed Sabitzer is set to join Anthony Martial on the sidelines.
The United boss explained: “We have a strong programme, but I think we are quite good.
“The only disappointment is Marcel Sabitzer is not available, as well as Anthony Martial.
“Anthony Martial is back on the pitch, so we will see. For the rest, everyone is available and we are ready for the game.’”
Though Casemiro is available, if he picks up a yellow card against Betis he will be suspended for the second leg at the Benito Villamarín Stadium.
The Brazilian was booked in both legs of the United’s Europa League play-off tie with Barcelona, and a third yellow in the competition will see him receive a one-match ban.
