Romano confirms Arsenal and Man Utd transfer target has €40m release clause in his contract

Romano confirms Arsenal and Man Utd transfer target has €40m release clause in his contract

This could make things interesting.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga has a €40m (£35.5m) release clause attached to his contract.

Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle are all thought to be among the clubs tracking the talented midfielder.

The 20-year-old is seen as one of the brightest young prospects in La Liga following an excellent breakout campaign with the Spanish side.

Veiga has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 22 league appearances this season.

Most recently, he scored a brace during his side's 3-0 win over Valladolid.

Veiga's price tag 'revealed'

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an insight into how much Premier League clubs might expect to pay for the player.

Romano tweeted: "There’s €40m (£35.5m) release clause included in the contract of Spanish young star Gabri Veiga. Celta want to keep him — no plan to let him leave for less than the clause.

"Midfielder born in 2002, Gabri Veiga has 8 goals and 3 assists in Liga — top clubs are tracking him."

Spanish news outlet AS previously claimed that a figure of €30m (£26.4m) would land the midfielder.

However, Celta Vigo are understandably reluctant to sell their prized asset.

Romano plays down Veiga links

Meanwhile, Romano recently played down Veiga's chances of moving to the Premier League this summer.

"Some Arsenal fans have asked me about links with Celta Vigo youngster Gabri Veiga," Romano said.

"However, I think it's way too early before linking him with big clubs like this.

"I'm told four or five top clubs scouts are monitoring him as Veiga is a top talent and he's doing great in La Liga, but it's something for the future, not present."

The Times recently reported that Arsenal were in the market for two more central midfielders this summer, suggesting Mikel Arteta could make a move for Viega, should the opportunity arise.
