Monaco star Axel Disasi 'would love' to join Man Utd in boost for Erik ten Hag

Monaco star Axel Disasi 'would love' to join Man Utd in boost for Erik ten Hag

The Monaco defender has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Monaco defender Axel Disasi 'would love' to make the move to Manchester United this summer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

With the likes of Harry Maguire and Eric Bailly heavily rumoured with Old Trafford exits, Erik Ten Hag is thought to be in the market for a new central defender.

And with Bayern Munich allegedly edging ahead in the race to sign Napoli defender Kim Min-jae, Disasi could act as the perfect alternative.

French news outlet L'Equipe have claimed that Disasi is just 'one step away' from joining the Red Devils, where he would become Erik ten Hag's first signing of the summer.

A report from the Daily Mail adds that Monaco would require around £44m in order to part ways with the 25-year-old centre-back.

However, Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has speculated that links appear to be coming from the 'player's side', but admitted United consider him an option.

That would figure considering Romano's most recent comments, claiming that Disasi is keen on a move to United.

What has Romano said about Disasi?

Romano has suggested that Disasi would love to make the move to Old Trafford. Although he's not a priority for Ten Hag at the moment.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, the Italian said: "So, Disasi, for example, is a player who remains in the list who would love to join United.

"From what I understand, he would be very happy about a United move. But, this is not a priority for the club as of now."

Nevertheless, Disasi's ability to play on both sides of defence could be a useful asset for the United boss, who was left stretched at the back last season following injuries to first-choice centre-back pairing Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.

Whether the France international would be willing to play second fiddle to the pair remains to be seen, as he could find it difficult to displace either Martinez or Varane in the starting 11.
