"Can be revealed..." - Journalist claims Premier League club are confident of signing Man Utd star

Nottingham Forest are keen on signing Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson on a permanent deal, according to reports.

Henderson joined Forest on a season-long loan in the summer with the aim of playing more regularly under Steve Cooper.

He has gone on to make 20 appearances in all competitions, amassing six clean sheets in that period.

Although, he looked to be heading back to the Red Devils last month after United announced their intention to recall him from loan, following Martin Dubravka’s return to Newcastle.

Henderson revealed his preference to stay at the City Ground, whilst Erik ten Hag opted to sign Jack Butland on loan instead.

The 25-year-old has made no secret of his desire to become first choice between the sticks at Old Trafford. However, David De Gea has managed to retain the number one spot, with Henderson unwilling to play second fiddle to the Spaniard.

Nottingham Forest 'keen to sign' Henderson

In a major boost for the former Sheffield united loanee, journalist John Percy claims that Forest are eager to tie Henderson down to a long-term deal.

Percy told The Telegraph: "Henderson, the United loanee, can be revealed as one of their top targets.

"Forest are keen to sign him permanently in the summer and believe Henderson’s decision to reject a return to Old Trafford in January can be seen as a big positive."

Unfortunately, Henderson sustained a thigh injury in the dying embers of their 2-0 victory over Leicester City on January 14.

Cooper has since confirmed that the England international is "still more than a few weeks away" from returning to training. As a result, the Garibaldi were forced into the transfer market, signing Keylor Navas from PSG as cover.

The vastly experienced 36-year-old's arrival will have come as a blow to Henderson, who may struggle to reclaim his place in the starting 11 this season.
