Bundesliga expert claims Man Utd are 'aroused' by Swiss star as London meeting revealed

Bundesliga expert claims Man Utd are 'aroused' by Swiss star as London meeting revealed

Manchester United are interested in signing the keeper.

A Bundesliga expert has claimed Manchester United are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel.

David De Gea, United’s No.1 goalkeeper, has been in talks with the club about extending his stay at Old Trafford into a 13th season.

The 32-year-old’s existing deal expires at the end of this season and although United have the option to trigger a one-year extension the two parties have entered talks over a fresh contract on reduced terms.

However, throughout his management career, Erik ten Hag has tended to favour goalkeepers comfortable with the ball at their feet.

While De Gea has no doubt improved in that department, there have been moments this season where his passing has been wayward, particularly in United’s Europa League clash against Real Betis last week.

Indeed, Ten Hag said at the time: “From today I can’t ignore it [the poor kicking] but I think we have seen in many games he did really well.

“I don’t know what the reason today was. There was a lot of wind, a different ball, probably he had some problems with that, but I know we can deal with it and he will do better Sunday.”

Man Utd interested in Kobel

According to SPORT1’s chief reporter Patrick Berge, United and Chelsea are both interested in signing Dortmund goalkeeper Kobel.

The German reporter claimed: "Kobel's performances have aroused desires.

"Especially at Manchester United and Chelsea.

“We have now found out that before the BVB game in London, there was a meeting with a consultant from Kobel's agency and with people from Chelsea who are very interested.

"David de Gea is 32 and won't be playing for United forever.

"Chelsea aren't really convinced of Kepa [Arrizabalaga] either. Both clubs want someone between the posts who is number one for the next eight, nine or ten years.

“So there was an exchange in London, it’s part of the business.”
